Last Saturday a group of over seventy youth and adults from five churches meet in our CLC. We spent the day together doing missions right here in our community. The students took part in prayer walks, landscaping at the middle school, and leading a Backyard Bible Club at Nelson Park. It was a great day!

I can’t begin to put into words how I felt as I watched our youth plan and lead the Backyard Bible Club. They did it all from planning the lesson, games, snack, and craft to helping each child who came feel loved and welcomed. They based the Backyard Bible Club on Johan and the Big Fish. None of the children from the community had heard that story before. You should be very proud of each of our youth. This summer I have seen their love for God, each other, and those in need grow.

I have the honor of spending time with our children and youth as they focus on getting closer to God. These moments are holy and allow me to see a different side of our kids, a side that many parents don’t even get to see.

I know that many of our children and youth are very busy with school, work, sports, scouts, and other great activities. Parents, as you plan on how to fit all of these activities in, don’t forget to include time for church and God. It is important now that you show your children how important God and church really are. The spiritual lives of children end up mirroring the lives of their parents. I want to personally invite each parent of our youth and children to become more involved in the ministries we have here at church for our children and youth, take some time to serve as a chaperone. I promise you will see a new side of your child that will amaze you and help you grow closer to God.
