Yesterday morning while getting ready to come to work I found a prayer in my sock drawer. It was a prayer about home. I didn’t even read it. I just left the paper to be dealt with later. That afternoon I got a call asking me if I would go and pray with a group of workers on the Habitat for Humanity house this morning. I agreed. When I got home I read the prayer from my sock drawer.

Here is a piece of the prayer. “O Lord, you are our home along the way and at the end of our journey. For traveling with us, for rescuing us when we are lost, and for calling us into you holy place, thanks be to you, O God, our eternal home.”

I went this morning and meet the Care-A-Vanners. I prayed my sock drawer prayer with them. The group travels all over the country working on houses. They have been in our area for about two weeks and almost have the house done. I meet people from all over the place. For some this was their first home building experience and others were entering their ninth year with the Care-A-Vanners. It really was a blessing to get to meet them.

This morning I truly meet some amazing people who understand what it means to labor for Christ. I pray for their safe travels and blessings. For myself I pray I will become more caring and compassionate for those who are homeless and hurting.
