Our Music Ministry

"Sing praises unto God, sing praises: sing praise to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm."    - Psalm 47:6-7

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God."        - Colossians 3:16

The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church is built upon the above commands to sing praises to God our Creator and rejoice that the Father has sent Jesus Christ the son and who lives with us in the power if the Holy Spirit.  We are dedicated to the task of teaching music in such a way as to glorify God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We invite all people to come and join our service to God through music at First Baptist Church. Welcome!

Chancel Choir

The primary purpose of the Chancel Choir of First Baptist Church, Mount Olive, is to provide musical selections for worship services and special events. The Chancel Choir consists of approximately 30 members, covering all vocal parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). The musical selections are chosen by the Directer of Music and come from varying types of repertoire (classical, traditional and contemporary). The Chancel Choir always welcomes new members into its musical family as part of the larger church family. Rehearsal is year round on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. A nursery is provided during rehearsal for those with young children.

There are also new opportunities coming for those interested in Handbell Choir! Stay tuned for more details. We hope that you will consider your gifts in ministry here at First Baptist, and come join one of our choirs.  God has blessed us greatly with talents and abilities that God wants us to use in Christian service.  Please consider your role in service to God as we prepare to worship and serve God each and every day.

Our children have music on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings during the months September - May.
